In approximately 2 hours and 50 minutes, the month of forgiving shall dawn upon us all.
Syawal.
Pardon me if I'm not that psyched up about tomorrow. After all, it IS the day where we get PLENTY of green packets (I hope), and eat lots of my favourite foods (Lontong with dollops of Sambal Kacang...Mmmmm). Plus, it marks the end of fasting. (Yes!)
I don't know, Hari Raya's just lost that kind of...'hype' for me. I remember those years when the whole of the maternal side of the family would rent a bus for the day and we'd all go around visiting relatives, most of whom I don't even know but DEFINITELY recognize. I mean, that WAS a sure-fire way of getting TONNES of moolah on just one day! Why, I'd think we would visit around 13-15 houses alone on a good day!
But it's just not the same anymore. Everybody else's got somewhere else to go. Eldest cousin's at camp, 2nd eldest cousin's got a family of her own; We're all just going...our separate ways. What happened, really...?
To top it all off, I am DREADING the trip to my paternal grandparents' house tomorrow. Besides the fact that I'll be going ALONE, I virtually be void of any conversational shield against the rest of my relatives. Usually I had parents to do that. I can't speak to these people! They're not used to me talking to them! So there you go; 1001 reasons NOT to go to your grandparents' house on Hari Raya.
Well, that doesn't mean I'm not gonna enjoy Hari Raya AT ALL. There's the Samba Raye Outing to look forward to. =) Oi Faseha, time biler dah...?
Oh yeah, I'm not posting any pics for the Mind Cafe thing 'cos I only took ONE. So there.
On a particularly forgiving note, I wish all Muslims in this whole FRICKIN' wide world a
SELAMAT HARI RAYA!
MAAF ZAHIR DAN BATIN...
(And to my fellow friends and acquaintances; you know who you are,
You get an extra special SELAMAT HARI RAYA!
Nah. Take it.)
