Bite me.

One word: Fuck.

Oh, and by the way, if you have the chance, go check out George A. Romero's flick Diary of the Dead.

Thanks to Ian for handing me that one.

Protest this.
I've been watching the news on the teevee these past few days, and I've fucking got something to say to a certain group of people: the protestors.

Damn fucking right it's serious.

I don't care; be it the pro-Tibet/Beijing Olympics issue or the Myanmar constitution issue.

Yeah, I'm sure it's a serious cause you guys are committed to...

...but don't you people have a freakin' JOB to go back to???

Oh right, you'd rather go PROTEST than earn a freakin' INCOME.

"Hey, Bob. You wanna head down to the protest that's going down across the street? I don't know what they're protesting but it sure looks like it's straight out of 'Girls Gone Wild'..."

"Nah. I have tonnes of paperwork to get to."

"Oh, c'mon Bob...I hear they're giving out free beer at the protest..."

"Beer??? FUCK YEAH, I'LL BE THERE!!!"

Picture this:

- On one hand, you've gone a stable job, that pays you well and regularly, and has a nice pension waiting for you when you turn 50+.

- On the other hand, you're devoting your life to a 'potential' good cause, that's probably gonna get you beat and battered by local police forces, land you in jail AND with a criminal record.

I don't know about you, but in this case, I'd gladly sell out my values for some moolah in the bank.

Although you could call me once those pro-Tibet people actually pay you for what you're doing.

What?

I'm Singaporean.

Eulogy.
So I'm listening to Ben Kenney's Eulogy on my speakers.

The lyrics...wow.

What can I say...Ben Kenney's a prodigy with his music.

Here's my favourite part:

"I want my eulogy to say
He was the kind of friend that no one could replace
And I want my family to know,
That I love them more than words will ever show

If I miss my
Chance to make things right with you
Know how much I want it too
Know how much I need it too"

What do you want YOUR eulogy to say when you die?

Whoops.
So its Saturday today.

And as rare as it was, I was greeted with a pretty good Saturday morning vibe.

Of course, not tuning in to Saturday television programming helped. A LOT.

I'm telling you, Channel 5 and Kids Central are teaming up to bring down the viewership of MediaCorp's television stations, man. Here's a suggestion: GET FUCKING BETTER PROGRAMMES FOR THE NON-CABLE SUBSCRIBERS.

It's not helping that you only give us 6 free-to-air channels to watch.

Anyway, after a good meal of Mee Soto for breakfast, I set out to go get some stuff, namely some DVC micro cassette tapes for my SingCam lesson next week, and possibly a few pens.

What I did buy, however, were the tapes, pens, AND Transformers Classics Grimlock.

I don't what possessed me to buy him, but I did. I mean, c'mon, he's going for only S$26.90.

And now he's settling in great, posed on my DVD player and saying "Me, Grimlock!"

Okay, I lied about the last part.

As I got home, I bumped into this girl from TP's own Malay Dance troupe.

And by "bumped", I mean "I-happened-to-get-on-the-bus-she-was-on" kind of "bumped".

I first saw her, or, more accurately, 'noticed' her at the Arts Leaders' Induction Camp earlier this month. And, to put it in the most short-and-sweet manner possible, she's kinda hot!

It so happens that she got off at the same stop as me and, guess what: it just so happens that she lives in exactly the same apartment block as I do!

OMGWTFBBQ.

"Me, Oblivious Ape, live on 5th floor! You?"

Okay, that was what it sounded like in my head.

The reply: "I'm on the 3rd!"

OMGWTFBBQ.

The thing was, and it happens ever-so rarely for some reason, is that she actually noticed me from my various forays with the TPLatinos.

OMGWTFBBQ x ∞.

So yeah. That was easily the highlight of my Saturday.

Thanks a lot, Channel 5.

Fudgesticks.
It's almost 9 hours to the start of my 2nd academic year at Temasek Polytechnic.

My, how time flies.

Just another year to go before the final showdown between me and my age-old nemesis, N.A.P.F.A.

The bastard.

You know what, this calls for a retrospective look at the life of Hafeez Zainalabidin as a CMM student...

Seriously, when have you ever known the Oblivious Ape to actually have time to do that shit?

Yep, that's right. NEVER.

Maybe I'll include that in my resolutions for the year 2009.

Then again, maybe not.

On an unrelated note, my physique is going straight down the crapper. I shudder to think about how the size of my man-boobs have gotten over the past few months.

They must be like, 32Bs by now.

Get it, Bs? Like the letter B looking like boobs when you turn it clockwise?

Eh, eh?

...

Oh, you people are no fun anymore.

Hoowah.
Goshdarnit, I am getting hooked on Indo AlternRock!

Nidji, Peterpan....okay, fine. I can't name 'em all, but damn do I dig the music!

Asian Rock does have such a distinct flavour to it; so unique, that you can't really compare it to its Western counterparts. The guitar rifts...the innovative rhythms...gosh, I really can't get down to explaining how GREAT this genre is!

And, after exploring movies such as 50 First Dates AND Surf's Up (Go ahead, laugh it off. You KNOW you wanna watch 'em.) my playlist has evolved to include sufficiently more reggae music. Yes, 4 tracks does constitute as 'sufficiently more'.

Let's face it, reggae just makes you wish you were out on vacation to Jamaica or the Mediterranean, chilling out by the beach on a nice wide hammock, strumming the ukulele and humming the tune to 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow'. Man, Israel Kamakawiwo'ole. You, sir, are the BOMB.

From now on, this blog will include a footnote at the end of every post, showing the games I'm currently playing. As for their reviews, that's another story to be told at another time.

Except replace 'at another time' with 'never'.

My PSP has changed me. And so has Bannable Offenses.

Currently Playing: Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters, flOw

SPARTANS!!! What is your laser range???
Hu-wow.

Today is the day that I actually have enough energy to commit my brain to ramble through a whole blog post. Well, time to get to work.

So I had the Arts Leaders' Induction Camp 2008 that went on from Thursday to Friday; a 2-day 1-night camp.

We had a full-on, all-out 1st day on Thursday. The day started off pretty much on a high note. All the different arts groups of our little Temasek Polytechnic gathered together in one lecture theatre. There we were, the Main Committee of TPLatinos, four members strong, amidst the throngs of other from the Choir, Band, Dance Ensemble, Production Crew, Salvo Drums, Chinese Orchestra, Malay Arts Group and the Indian Cultural Group. So, yeah. High note.

Right.

So then a little briefing, and out we go for some ice-breaking games. The usual stuff, not worth elaboration.

The day is followed by an extremely insightful (for me, at least) exercise on STAGE PRESENCE, taught by TP's very own Mr Sonny. Turns out he's a major arts practitioner, with one of those arts being DANCE. Particularly, an Indian cultural dance. I'm like, WOAH. SO being arts groups, we faced the exercise with an open mind, and it looked like it to. Response to his teaching was really good, I must say.

So bla de bla de bla... and we fast forward to the late night programme. And, guess what?

The schedule called for some LASER TAG.

WOOOPIEEKAIYAY!!!!!

Nothing like some big ol' guns and an urban jungle to fuel the male need for primal combat.

I mean, seriously, the rifles looked like they came straight out of the successful Ratchet and Clank series of games. And these were one-of-a-kind laser rifles. They had in-built ROCKET LAUNCHERS. You know, like those foam rockets.

Ok, you may stop laughing now.

SO I'm hearing you ask, how do foam rockets figure into laser combat?

Oh, you didn't ask? Well, shut up and listen anyway.

So you slot the rocket into the big barrel in front, pump it till the air pressure's right...slide the trigger and LET 'ER RIP! Once it lands, the infra-red emittor inside generates multiple pulses per second that does damage of between 0 to 10 lives. You really don't want this guy used against you.

So the match went on tournament style, and once all groups had their fair share of playtime, we proceeded into Deathmatch. Straight on Free-for-All. Booyah.

No doubt we lost.

Okay fine, we got our asses handed to us on a silver platter.

You can find the company that organizes these kind of events here: Tactical Real-Life Gaming

The day ended with most of us feeling dog-tired. My thighs suffered the most. Long story short: Forest Fires kill thighs.

The last day began no doubt with most of us half-awake. The day then proceeded to be full of lectures. No doubt important, but I just couldn't get my freakin' eyes to stay awake long enough for the information to be sent to my brain. Trying to sleep in a car the previous night didn't help either.

The camp ended on an explosive finale with all of us participating in a DRAGON BOAT race. Yep, I can see that you're thinking: The Oblivious Ape + Dragon Boating = Dividing any number by zero = Absolute Chaos

Miraculously, nothing of the sort happened. Although the boat did sag to one side a bit, possibly because two large guys (namely moi and another dude from Dramatec) were sitting on the left side of the boat. So we raced tournament style, with the winners from the previous two races were to compete in the finals to become the ultimate champion, complete with bragging rights.

Sad to say, we got our asses handed to us on a silver platter AGAIN. Goody goody gumdrops.

But 'twas fun. The newfound respect I have for dragonboaters...oh, who am I kidding.

JOCKS SUCK.

SO there.

Wah.
My new quick fix: Bannable Offenses

Reading through this blog is like going through another one of the strips created by the awesome Scott Kurtz of PVPOnline.com

Damn, this guy got sass! Just check out this post of his about the effects anime have on kids today.

Oh yeah, I believe kudos is in order. My thanks to Ian for handing me this link on a silver chatbox. LOL.

Okay, FINE. I'll stop making my own smart quips....

....NOT!

Bad Juju.
Hoo boy...

Looks like NTUC Fairprice made a big bad bubu.

Don't see it? Well, here's a little close-up:

Okay, it's not as sharp as I would've wanted it to.

Now, is that a "CH Pork Muscle" labelled on a specifically HALAL sticker I see? This packet of beef, or at least what looks like beef, was found in the Tampines Mall branch of the well-known supermarket chain.

Well, this brings three words to mind: Mistake or Misdemeanor?
