Of Spares and Strikes.
Went for another bowling session with Izzat today. Given my almost non-existent social life, I figured I probably had some time to spare (Oooh ooh LOOK, a bowling pun!). Got Suzie to come along as well since she lived close by.

We played 2 games each. As usual, my first game was crap. With a score of 50+, I was pretty pissed that the ball kept longkang-ing. My second game was....pretty awesome, I would say. Tripped up a bit at first, but I managed a score of 100 in the end.

Izzat said he was off his game; but with a consistent over-120 score, I DON'T THINK SO! *folds arms* Suzie, on the other hand, was the one who was really off her game. (Should I mention your score here? =P) Tu lah, next time ingat Zat's advice. I can tell you for a fact that it helps. =D

Tried to take a picture of my score for the second game, but they erased it for the next bowlers before I could. Urrrgh.

Thanks a lot , Orchid Bowl.

Edit: Whoohoo!!! Zat just put up the profile I wrote for Upbeats Percussion's Multiply up on the site. Go check it out here.

NEWS TEAM, AHHSEMMMMMBOLLLLL!!!!
Updates!

TUESDAY

The Upbeats had a performance at ITE Simei. It was my first time in an ITE, to be honest, and I guess the environment's no different than a polytechnic's. Well, except for the uniforms, of course.

But the crowd was a tough one to please. When we usually had cheers and claps all around after a routine in a regular performance, there was practically NONE for this one. Nada. Zip.

I guess it was an experience for all of us.

It just so happened that we were celebrating Aliah's belated birthday on that day too. Headed to Simpang Bedok for the celebration, where the girls had already set up this awesome chocolate cake (probably the same type of cake we have when celebrating our birthdays). I had Nasi Goreng Ayam Kunyit for dinner there Xd. Good stuff.

WEDNESDAY

We had Syed Ahmad come over to our TPLatinos practice session to teach our young 'uns some new tricks of the trade.

*squeals*

It was like Bloco Practices all over again. I'm glad they got a taste of what we've learned over there. And it seems they'd like something like that to be conducted again.

Awesome stuff.

THURSDAY

Had nothing else to do at home, and so did Izzat. So he suggested we got out for a little bowling session. Played 3 games altogether, with the 3rd game being his treat. XD

This is the result I got for the 3rd game:

Not bad eh?

Okay, granted I slacked off on the first few frames, but the consecutive frames were pretty good. I mean, TWO strikes in a row?! Can I get a 'HELL YEAH!'?

Awesome stuff, with a final score of 111 points. A score above 100; that's another first for me!

HELL YEAH!

'And we keep on bowling....bowling...bowling on the river...'

Of Man-rape and Paper.

So me and my mom decided to catch a movie just now in the afternoon.

Yeah, I know. Weird, right?

Anyway, at my persuasion, we decided to watch 'Big Stan', starring Rob Schneider:

At first glance, this movie seemed harmless enough (although this notion came before me noticing the M18 tag at the side; at that point, I started having my doubts.)

What can I say...

Stan (Rob Schneider) is your average real estate conman, and it is this malpractice that eventually lands him in jail in the first place. So he gets that mandatory prison term of 3 to 5 years for first-degree fraud, but due to the efforts of his less-than-legal attorney, he gets 6 months to settle his affairs before his incarceration.

The first few minutes of the movie were total crap. The humour felt forced, although whether or not it was meant to be humour is up for debate. Jennifer Morrison plays Stan's ever-ditzy wife Mindy. For those of you who are ill-informed, Jennifer is a co-star on that hit TV series House. Now, I'm not really a big fan of House, and as such haven't been really catching up on enough episodes to critique the actors'...well, acting. In this movie, however, I really see no chemistry between lead actor and supporting actress.

The action really kicks in in the middle of the movie, where he trains up to prepare for that hard prison life he's gonna be going through for the next 3 years. Now, the prison life is where it gets really ridiculous. It should be noted that Big Stan isn't a movie for the homophobe. There are many, almost ubiquitous references to homosexual sex and rape. No graphic demonstrations, thankfully. I know what you're thinking: Rob Schneider in a gay flick? Well, if your remember 'I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry', nothing is off-limits for this guy. All I can say is it has to be seen to be believed.

All in all, it's a decent flick for 6 bucks (paying by NETS is cheaper, apparently.), considering it was shot in 6 weeks. Good for a laugh but not a second look, it's a film packed with enough gay innuendos to make you not wanna watch it with another man.

Or your mom, for that matter. Definitely NOT your mom.

Don't be surprised.
Audio Addiction of the month: Surprise by Gnarls Barkley

Here's his performance on Live from Abbey Road, featuring that song:

Ever since I caught the televised version on Arts Central, its been a constant battle to not internalize his lyrics everytime I hear that song.

Like he says,

"And the opening line of 'Surprise', which is just a great reference point, is 'It's cool being the only one, but it's lonely'. And we all are very unique and complete originals, you know, all of us. You know what I'm saying? So like, there has to be some loneliness in that."

It's just...you never know when you will chance upon a piece of wisdom as you go about your day.

But when it comes, it's like...Wham!

Kudos to the insightful lyrics, Mr. Gnarls Barkley.

Bwuh..?
So...so tired.
