You like to move it, move it?
Upbeats Percussion had their third busking session today.
Pretty awesome, but we could have been tighter.
Thanks to Suzie who came for her first Upbeats busking session. Gerek kan?
Hahah.
And big thanks also to the dudes and dudettes at Rhythm De Pasion for coming down to see us. You guys came a little late ah; our set before that was waayy better than what you saw.
Anyways, I had to leave a little early.
Me and my mom went for some dinner at Fresh Bulgogi down at eHub, then we went to catch Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa.

Picture grabbed from Wikipedia.
This installment of the Madagascar series continues from where the first one left off; the four animal friends are preparing to leave Madagascar for New York on a repaired plane found on the island. Remember King Julian's 'meeting room'? Yeah, THAT plane. The second movie sets out to explore both the ancestral roots of Alex, Marty, Melman and Gloria in the land of Africa, and, eventually, themselves as well.
This movie has everything you loved from the first one and more. The penguins are back, this time playing a more integral role in the plot by being the primary engineers of their escape from Madagascar...and into Africa. I personally enjoyed the antics of my two favourite lemurs, King Julian and Maurice, from their insensitive and mostly condescending behaviour towards the plight of the main characters, to their...well, insensitive and mostly condescending behaviour towards the plight of the main characters, I guess? Hey, that's why we love him, right?
A barrel of laughs and more, Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa was well worth the 10 dollars I paid on its opening week. Give it a watch.

Bukkake!
Do YOU know what bukkake is?
You don't?
Well, I'll tell you what I know - DON'T GOOGLE IT.
ESPECIALLY IN CLASS.
Don't say I didn't warn ya. =D
Anyways, quick post here 'cos I really need to get back to my assignments
My mom bought the Magic Bullet and the Swivel Sweeper early last week. Don't remember those? Well, you'd probably have seen them on those infomercials shown on Central in the afternoons.
You know, those "As seen on TV" ads?
So yeah. The Magic Bullet's apparently your all-in-one blender/juicer/slicer/dicer/any other function you can think of. It's that good. We haven't really fully tried it out yet, but I guess the concept of hassle-free cooking is just too good to pass up. You can Google THIS one; I'm sure it'll come out someplace.
The Swivel Sweeper's like your average Magic Clean mop. Actually, it's more than that. Simply put, it's the lovechild of both the power of the vacuum cleaner as well as the wireless hassle-free flexibility of the Magic Clean. Amazingly, it's cleans up pretty well for a battery-operated cleaning appliance. Worth the buy, I must say. Although I didn't fork out a single cent to pay for it in the first place...
Okay, Imma go back to my assignments now. Stupid essay has me listening to Class 95FM everyday. At least, I TRY to make it everyday. Stupid schedule doesn't give me time to listen to both good songs and those from Class 95FM....
ZING!
Oooooohhhh....
It's an observational essay, by the way.
It's Yaz's programme right now. Love Songs, of all things. Not that she doesn't do a good job, mind you. Gimme Good Charlotte over 98 Degrees any day.

CONGA!!!
Hoo boy, it's been a hell of a week.
4 days of updates people!
ThursdayZat, Suzie and I designated Thursday night as bowling night. So when he didn't show up last week, we were pretty pissed. Tapi takpe lah, we understand that you were handling the whole wedding thing for your sister. THIS WEEK JANGAN LUPA NAK DATANG! XD
So the both of us caught a movie instead. October was a bad season for movies, so we didn't have many to choose from at the Cathay Cineplex at eHub. In the end, it was a toss-up between horror/thriller flick The Coffin, or practically-unknown-flick Lakeview Terrace. Since Samuel L. Jackson was on the poster, we gave it a chance. Big mistake.
Image taken off WikipediaSuffice to say, the movie was a big flop. It tries too hard to deliver a convincing storyline, and when it ends, it leaves you with that sense of 'What-the-fuck?' sitting deep in the pit of your stomach. In Suzie's words, "I can tell you the whole story in a sentence. A grumpy black cop who goes nuts in getting rid of a black and white couple just because of a stereotype." Stay away from this one, folks.
FridayI ended up going to the rehearsal for Zat's sister's wedding alone, 'cos the girls got tickets to Avenue Q (NOOOO!!!! ....*sniffle*) and Shafiq had something on at home. Although the rehearsal itself wasn't much of a rehearsal to begin with, we did gain something out of it.
A NEW SONG!!!
Yeyeh, Upbeats ada lagu baru...
Now things are looking just awesome. I don't know where this is coming from; it's like an overwhelming wave of positivity. I just know Upbeats Percussion is the best thing that has happened to me since Bloco Singapura.
And to think it all just started with a djembe beat Ramli showed us.Now all we need is a name for it...
SaturdayThe first day of the wedding ceremony, and its the Upbeats that are up for their feature performance.
The whole wedding set-up was FRICKIN' AWESOME. I haven't been to many weddings myself, but this one's the best I've seen so far. They opted for a kind of classy/noir style, with tons of drapery and rose stalks in between. The pelamin (wedding dais, I think?) - ah, the pelamin...what a grand affair it was. Fit for a king and queen, and with excellent ventilation! Very important, ventilation.
And and, after our whole performance, we did something UNTHINKABLE.
The whole lot of us did the frickin' CONGA to Gloria Estefan's Conga around the wedding area, after which we proceeded to MOSH along to various Latin Groove songs in FRONT of the pelamin and the newly-wedded couple
MOSH, mind you.Freaky night, that one.SundayThe Upbeats collaborated with VIP and Dhuaza Batucada on the second day, playing the good ol' Bloco songs we used to play together. The atmosphere was pretty much the same as the day before. Fizah's surdo broke that day, and now it's sitting in my house. I wonder why...Arrived home dead tired, as USUAL.But it was oh so worth it. XD
