A Day In The Life Of The Oblivious Ape
Saturday, January 10, 2009
Umm, Life? The Ape wants you to slow down.
Uggh, what can I say? It's been a hectic week.

With less than 5 weeks to go before the end of the semester, the major projects are all piling down on me.

We just finished our studio recording for the 1+2 interview multicam assignment, and I guess we did pretty good, considering the hiccups we encountered along the way. The last recording was fucking GREAT! XD

And and and... we had our performance today for the TP Open House event. If any of you came for the open house and went home with an aftertaste of "WTF?" in your mouth, I'll tell you right now that I TOTALLY understand.

So the performance went smoothly as we had rehearsed it; the juniors especially (Good job guys!). That's not to say the seniors didn't fare any better; let's just say some cues were forgotten along the way. =P

After our performance, I tagged along with the fellas for their Chingay rehearsal at People's Association Kallang. I can safely confirm that A WHOLE LOT OF FRICKIN' WORK GOES INTO MAKING THIS ANNUAL PARADE HAPPEN.

Seriously.

I mean, just looking at the costumes, they don't look like were just strapped and taped together in 2 minutes; everything from the shirts, pants, vests, shoes, helmets and hats were intricately sown, like the maker had given each and every one his or her own personal attention. Granted, they looked a little beat up, but looking at the dedication each performance was given, I'd say it was bound to happen.

So anyway, their rehearsal really made me realise what I was going to miss about Bloco; just the fact that we all know each other and that making and playing samba music is our fucking passion. As I sat there in the Crocs store of Plaza Singapura while they were collecting their official yellow crocs, I was asked by no less than 10 people if I had collected mine and why I didn't. And as I watched the rest prepare for their rehearsal, I was asked countless more, including Syed Ahmad, if I had collected the costume and why I wasn't playing.

I guess this is the part where I sigh.

And to my fellas Upbeats, I'm glad I still got you guys.

Side note taken down due to irrelevance at this point in time. LOL
