Meanwhile, I shall attempt to do a proper update within such a time.
So I headed to Rhythm De Pasion's busking session over at Tampines One after today's gym session, since it was on the way back home anyway.
I must say, they've really gotten better since the last time I saw one of their sessions at the same place back in early '08. New songs, for starters, and of course, new members. Which makes for a fresh new performance, I think. Haha.
So, mid-way through their second set, me and Mirul were invited to play the surdo and caixa respectively for a Bloco-hit, Bahiana Funk. And we played.
All I can say is: Damn, I miss busking.
And turns out, I sustained my worst injury so far from playing the surdo over there.
And weird part is, I didn't even know my flesh got freakin' scratched out till I raised my water bottle to my lips and saw it on the finger. Talk about passion for the music. Lol.
Blood-stained and ripped like I'd just punched somebody silly.
With a finger.
Man, I wish I was that awesome.
Well, I guess there's a first time for everything huh?
Anyway, headed for the movies afterwards with my mum. It's been ages since I caught a movie with her, what with the procrastinating and all.
I was looking for something funny to end the day with (God knows how much cheering up I need.) a.k.a Monsters vs. Aliens. The only show available then was at midnight; way too late. So we settled for something with potential substance like The Taking of Pelham 123 instead.
With two actor powerhouses in the lead roles, this flick was just too good to pass up.
Burgh, what can I say... It's your basic bad guy-hostage situation-good guy saves the day kind of movie. It's got a lot of underlying themes though. Anarchy, rage against the machine, rebel with a cause kind of themes.
And for the first time in such a movie, we see that the good guy as flaws of his own as well. Denzel Washington portrays a good train despatch, I must say. Heh. John Travolta tries too hard though, I think. Vulgarities? Not really your style, my man.
So not in the mood for long reviews nowadays. Although I do want to take this quote out from the movie.
Scene: Denzel As Walter finally confronts John as 'Ryder' on the Manhattan bridge after chasing him down the streets of Midtown.
"So is this how you thought this was gonna end, when you put your socks on this morning?"
Fate can be a bitch, sometimes.
